Into the Bushveld

Set in the quiet savannahs of central Namibia, Omaanda is located just half-an-hours’ drive from Windhoek, within a 22,000-acre private wildlife conservancy. The landscape is typical of regions bushveld, with open and grassy plains, scattered with acacia trees and shrubs. The conservancy plays an important role in local conservation efforts and is home to a variety of wildlife, including rhino, elephant, and big cats. It is managed in partnership with the N/aan ku sê Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and the peaceful coexistence of communities and animals across Namibia.

Travel Tips

With over 300 days of sunshine each year, Namibia is a destination that can be enjoyed year-round. The winter season, also known as the dry season, begins in April and lasts until September. Temperatures are pleasant (between 20 and 25°C) but evenings and nights can be fresh or even cold (up to -10°C in the desert). From October to December, Namibia experiences the hot, dry season, with minimal rainfall and average temperatures around 25°C. December to the end of March is the rainy season, with very warm days in the mainland (between 25°C and 34°C) but chillier nights, and lower temperatures on the coast (20°C on average during the day).Although it’s referred to as the rainy season, the rainfall is intermittent and tends to be heavier in the northern regions.

We highly recommend travelling with a light bag (rather than a rigid suitcase), which is more practical for Africa. It’s also a requirement if you’ll be using small planes for internal transfers.

Self-driving is a popular and efficient way to explore Namibia. However, keep in mind that distances can be long and, while roads are generally well maintained, some can be bumpy. Choose a reliable vehicle, carry a map or GPS, and consider opting for tyre insurance. Also, we recommend refuelling whenever you come across a petrol station.

Finally, given Namibia’s limited water resources, please be mindful of your water use and help us preserve this precious resource.

Zannier Omaanda is set within the Zannier Reserve by Naankuse, a fenced private animal reserve located between the international airport and the capital city.

The two nearest airports are Windhoek Hosea Kutako Airport (international and domestic flights – 20min) and Windhoek Eros Airport (domestic flights – 35min).

Because some evenings and nights in Namibia can be cool, and the desert often brings strong winds, we recommend packing the following essentials to stay comfortable during your visit:

A coat
A scarf
A hat or cap for sun protection
A swimsuit (our pool is heated and has amazing views)
A light jacket for cooler evenings
Lip balm, as the sun can be drying
Sunscreen to protect your skin
Comfortable shoes for exploring and activities
An adapter (type D / M)
A reusable water bottle (tap water in Namibia is safe to drink)
And of course, a camera to capture the memories

Starting from the 1st of April 2025, a visa to enter Namibia is required for visitors from all countries. The cost is NAD / /ZAR 1,600 (approximately EUR 81 / GBP 68 / USD 86) for European, Australasian and North American travelers.
The online application service can be found below. We strongly recommend applicants use this method.
